7pm to 8pm, every Wednesday. Audiobook club.
Each week we’ll spend 5 minutes recapping prior sessions, listen to about 20 minutes of the audiobook, then spend 40 minutes discussing it. Sessions are one hour. No book is required. You’re welcome to speak, listen, or join at any point, even if you miss some weeks.
We’re living in a time of growing division. It’s becoming harder to talk openly, stay connected, or understand people with different views. This isn’t happening by accident. This group exists to start a conversation about why this is happening and what we can do about it. Words like totalitarianism, fascism, and authoritarianism are used a lot, often without much historical understanding. This group will focus on totalitarianism, using Hannah Arendt’s The Origins of Totalitarianism to look at tactics used in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia—and how similar tactics show up today. Talking and debating ideas is essential to democracy. We hope you’ll join us.
Organized by Susanne Hedley and Bill Kilpatrick.

March 28, 2026

April 2, 2026 - 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Fay Martin MSW, PhD will celebrate the availability of Dementia Widow in the Bancroft area with a public book event.
The event will offer attendees an opportunity to hear Martin read from the memoir, speak candidly about the realities of dementia caregiving, and engage in conversation about an experience that affects countless families yet is rarely discussed openly.
Event organizers are responsible for all aspects of events. We do not charge local people or groups to use the space for non-commercial pro-peace activities. All organizers are expected to run events aligned with a culture of peace.
